My parents were supporters of the movement and shared it with their children. My mother worked in the fields of Imperial Valley as a child. My father worked the fields all over California when he first arrived. They didn’t stay in the fields. They also didn’t forget either when the movement began. They supported the movement with their money and time. They would take us along to the rallies, marches and the gatherings. I didn’t know much of what was going on at the time but the seed was planted. I have roots in the field work and not to forget those who are still there today. I have taken that seed today and have joined my union to stand with and represent those who are afraid to voice the abuse and injustices to support staff in education. Teach your children to stand up and be counted.
