Campaigning in Binghamton, NY in the 1970s

I first heard about the grape and lettuce boycotts while in high school. I refused to eat those products and urged my whole family to join in. I had the privilege to meet Cesar’s brother Richard when I helped organize a short speech tour at local churches when I was in college at SUNY Binghamton. It was my job to pick him up at the airport! It was a grassroots campaign in the truest sense. Migrant farmworkers pick a lot of fruit in upstate NY and NJ. Since that time I got to know some good friends of Cesar in Phoenix, AZ where I lived for 9 years. Que Dios Les Bendiga a todos!
