The following story/letter to our local newspaper, ran on 3/06/‘99:
sponsorship of the House bill to create a Cesar Chavez Day (with her able assitant Adam Rodriguez, who had a major role in putting this bill together). The late Mr. Cesar Chavez was and will always be the hero of the farm workers, stoop laborers, who still toil in of our glorious nation. He was the one who had the foresight “to organize” his fellow farm hands for a better working environment and healthier working conditions, and eventually form a fully recognized union many years ago.
This Hispanic-American taxpayer fully supports the effort that we hone this great American who cared for his fellow human. I’m proposing a full state holiday!
