Invitations and permit for event was provided by: Community Supporters (Maria Cameron, thank you in believing in me and supporting our great cause).
Many volunteers from our Community collected signatures to make it a Cesar E. Chavez Holiday! Thank you to them and to my Freddie and Jesilyna Gonzales I would of not made it. It was in the 40’s, I had the flu, but the sun was above us and with all races together for this special occasion, I know our Cesar was smiling from the Heavens!
We collected about 230 signatures.
I continued on my own attending community events and community fiesta’s collecting signatures, I ended with about 800 signatures and sent them to California. The office in CA, were mailing to our new President Obama.
Thank you to Alderman James N. Witkowiak, County Supervisor Peggy Romo West, and Robert Miranda, Spanish Journal for having the same passion as I have for Cesar and working closely with me.
At the end I feel satisfied I put Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the map with a result of a Proclaimation making a Cesar Chavez March 31st Day by Scott Walker, County Boards urges designation of National Holiday Resoultion by County Supervisor Romo West, Common Council Honors National Holiday by Alderman James N. Witkowiak and Robert Puente, only Latino on the Council, and Congresswomen Gwen Moores Co-Sponsored Bill H with Resolution 76.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONTH CESAR, WE MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU!
