"DESTINE TO BE UNION."

DESTINE TO BE UNION.

ALTHOUGH I NEVER MET CESAR CHAVEZ IN PERSON, “LA CAUSA” FOR FAIR TREATMENT TO ALL “WORKERS” WAS THE REASON I PARTICIPATED IN ONE OF THE MARCHES IN SALENAS,CALIFORNIA IN 2005.I EVEN GOT TO SHAKE THE HAND OF ARTURO AFTER THE MARCH.AS A BOY, I GREW UP IN FRESNO CALIFORNIA WORKING OUT IN THE FIELDS WITH MY PARENTS GOING FROM RANCH TO RANCH FOR OVER 14 YEARS, BUT NEVER HAD THE HONOR OF JOINING THE UNITED FARM WORKERS AT THAT TIME .ALTHOUGH MY DAD WAS VERY ACTIVE AS A VOLUNTEER AND A LOYAL FOLLOWER OF CEASAR CHAVEZ, MY DESTINY LEAD ME INTO A DIFFERENT PATH. GOING BACK TO 1990, I STARTED MY NEW CAREER IN THE NEWSPAPER INDUSTRY WHERE I LEARNED THAT DISCRIMINATION HAS NO BOUNDARIES.TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, I BECAME A UNION ORGANIZER FOR THE TEAMSTERS IN 1998. THEN BECAME A SHOP STEWARD FROM 2001 TO 2009.THE MORALE OF THE STORY IS “NO MATTER WHICH UNION YOU JOIN, NEVER FORGET, WERE ALL FIGHTING FOR “LA CAUSA.” VIVA CEASAR CHAVEZ!!!!
