i remember the first time i heard about cesar chavez. i was in a church, in western mass. at an l.r.y. conference, the youth branch of the unitarian universalist church, it may have been snowing out. this was around 1968. a representative of his came to talk to our group about the united farm worker’s stryggles for better working/more humane conditions. i was impacted mostly by his excellent attitude and demeanor. it became one of the many causes that i embraced in the sixties and comuinicated with other’s about!
