I was a teenager in the late 60’s , 70’s ... Cesar Chavez came to our church
Sacred Heart Church in San Jose.. I was so excited to meet him. I wanted to be
part of his activism and marches! He amazed me with his courage and huge heart
to help people that were being used and abused. At the young age i was maybe 14 yrs.
i could not just ignore this big issue, i was alway there for the underdog.
We all stood behind Cesar at Sacred Heart Church. With Fr. JIm Casey, Fr.Jack Issac
and Fr Moriarty…These were great times we shared. standing up for peoples rights and
marching, picketing, and boycotting grapes.
It was a time i did a lot of growing and learning who i was as a person. I learned i wanted
to stand up for people’s rights and support La Causa!
Now i have a grown son and i always taught him to support any cause he believes in
and that he can help in so many ways, just be there and be heard.
