I met Cesar in April of 1968. I was a shaggy haired college student then and was part of a food caravan to Delano. Cesar spoke to our group and I was so moved by his modest, unassuming presence and the power of his words that I instantly resolved to work actively for social justice. I have been doing so ever since. I have a chapter about this meeting in my memoir Eyewitness: A Filmmaker’s Memoir of the Chicano Movement.
