In the 60s and early 70s my wife and I were organizing G.I.s across California against the Vietnam War. I linked up with the UFW in San Diego to organize G.I.s to join the letture and grape boycott on the military bases. Shortly after we ended the war my wife I I went back home to start a new life. Then we got a call from Cesar. He asked us to manage the UFW clinic in Mexicali. He promised us an apartment and $15.00 a week. How could we refuse? We started on a new journey with the clinic in Mexicali and established others in Calexico, Parlier, and Sanger.
