For thirty years I was a university professor. In all of my classes I taught about Cesar Chavez and had my students read his speeches and writings. Many students were inspired by students including some who had been migrant workers.
I also published two books on Chavez and the farmworkers with my co-author, John C. Hammerback. Hammerback also served as curator of an exhibit on Cesar Chavez that is tourning the country. I recently spoke at a session that was held in conjunction with the exhibit at Penn Sate University.
Chavez was an important influence on my life and on my teaching.
